Fatal VA State Police helicopter crash data disappears from public record.

The flight plan for helicopter N31VA which crashed while hovering over free speech advocates in Charlottesville, VA has been scrubbed from popular aviation website.

The website flightaware.com is a popular aircraft and flight plan tracking tool used by aviators to follow aircraft flights, look at flight plans, and aircraft registration info. The missing .xml file depicting the last hours of flight VATRP1 on 12AUG2017 has disappeared.

On 12AUG2017, two Virgina State Police troopers operating N31VA on flight plan VATRP1 crashed a $2.54 million dollar Bell 407 helicopter in a populated area near Charlottesville VA. Both Virginia State Troopers died in the crash.

vsp003Trooper Blooper: N31VA a Bell 407 helicopter used in the fatal 12AUG2017 crash was reported to be harrassing Alt-Right attendees at low altitude before the helicopter crashed, killing both VSP pilots.

Witnesses report the helicopter flying at a low altitude over the parking lot, menacing rally attendees that were forced to hike more than three miles over elevated terrain, and following individual vehicles from the parking area.

“It was on top of us and it stayed there” said a source who asked to remain anonymous. “We were forced from Lee Park right after we arrived, with just enough time to wash the bear repellent, acid and body fluids thrown by communists. We entered the park through a gauntlet of organized violence, and then we were ordered to leave the park, and we were attacked again.”

But we learned the Bell 407 N31VA, equipped with a turret mounted, military grade, infrared camera was nowhere to be seen on the 3 mile run to the parking spot.

“Local police did nothing about the violence, nor did the Virginia State Police. We were almost back the the parking lot at McCallister park catching our breath and some old lady, maybe about 70, gets out of a Prius and is spraying mace from upwind, laughable these old fart boomers. Finally back at the parking lot, there is that police helicopter, hovering, so loud we had to shout over it.”

The security group for the the rally participants reported indications of radio jamming efforts. Local broadcasters also could not maintain a signal. Some wondered if this played a role in the VSP helicopter crash.  An investigation into the helicopter crew and their role in the VSP stand down, uncovered the absence of the .xml file for that flight on that day, which provides a 3D visualization of the rotorcraft movement. A 2D chart brings into question the pilot judgment of moving at a low airspeed and a low altitude. FAA charts show a minimum ceiling of 2500 feet, but the helicopter was well below that limit. Helicopters require constant correction at low speed and altitude and offer little time for recovery if a engine goes out or they lose lift from a variety of complicated aerodynamic events. Pilots are trained to avoid static scenarios, where the rotorcraft can cut a hole in humid air and sink into it, or overheat it’s single turbine engine. VSP pilots flew a similar flight plan on 11AUG2017 as witnessed by observers on 12AUG2017, perhaps a rehearsal for the next day.

Virgina State Police Flight altitude shown here is 1000ft. FAA minimum limit is 2500 for private and commercial pilots.

  • Flight 2D data does not reflect well coordinated turns of level altitude. Were the pilots experienced with this aircraft and this type of flying?
  • Was N31VA equipped with an optional computer to assist with low speed & low altitude flight and if yes, did they turn the device off?
  • Why was flight data removed from public record?

The public looks forward to the NTSB report on the N31VA crash, and expects these questions to be answered.

A FOIA request for the .xml flight data has been placed with the Federal Aviation Administration.

A request for inquiry has been submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice as part of an investigation into civil right violations by The City of Charlottesville, the Charlottesville Police Department, the Virginia State Police, and the Virginia Governor’s office.

The reasons for flight data removal also need to be investigated, to determine who was involved and did they act in the public interest.

The preventable deaths of two policemen and one civilian as part of a scheme to cause racial violence and deprive Americans of First Amendment right needs to come to light.
